Giving children hope after grief

Losing a loved one early in life is a profoundly devastating experience. Our goal is to help bereft children learn to cope, begin to heal, and discover that there can be hope after a significant death.

We provide year-round support to children and their extended family by funding, initiating, and organizing programs aimed at supporting children dealing with grief.

Every summer, we host a Summer Camp, where bereaved children can honour the memory of a special person who has died.

Who we are

Jon Reider founded Camp Erin Montreal, a free bereavement camp for children 6-17 years old in November 2016. With the recruitment of Corrie Sirota, a well-known and respected Grief, Loss and Bereavement Specialist, Jon sought to make the dream of Camp Erin Montreal a reality. After 3 successful years in operation, it was clear to both Jon and Corrie that the need for grief support services for children and their families was greater than even imagined.

In October 2019, Jon founded Myra’s Kids Foundation with the express mission to expand the support services that were being offered by Camp and beyond.

Myra’s Kids Foundation is named in loving memory of Jon’s mother, Myra, who died when he was 3 years old. Through this new initiative, Jon and Corrie hope to extend their reach and support to more children and families dealing with grief in the greater Montreal and surrounding areas.

Myra’s Kids Foundation is my way of honouring my mother and building on her legacy as I ensure that we provide support to any child that is suffering through the trauma of the loss of someone close to them.
— Jon Reider, Founder

Our goals are to offer a safe place and space for bereaved children so that they can heal while also helping them discover that there absolutely is life after loss.

No one is made to grieve alone. The deep friend connections we see at Camp when kids find someone their age who finally understands what they’re going through is what drives us to keep working hard year after year to help these connections flourish.
